Welcome to the CSSE Senior Project submission site! Thank you for taking the time to consider proposing one or more capstone projects for our CSSE students here at Rose. We are excited about the possibilities for our students to work with clients like you.

Each year, our Computer Science and Software Engineering (CSSE) Senior Students participate in Software Engineering Projects working for real-world clients as part of their capstone engineering experience. These students have already completed a software project working for clients under the academic direction of faculty members in our Junior year sequence of software engineering courses. During their Senior year, they will complete a team project with faculty oversight, but more as an advisor this time. We have found that these experiences are very rewarding for both the students and the clients they engage with.

In the past, we have not charged any fees for our CSSE Senior Projects. However, evidence from many other institutions who have larger and more successful senior project programs shows that having a fees actually improves the experience for both the students and the client for projects. Hence, starting this year, we are embarking on having a fee for the Senior Projects of $25,000. This fee will be pooled to cover expenses that generally occur in senior projects and those for specific improvements to our senior project program (e.g., end of year Exposition Day). Note that projects submitted from non-profit organizations will have the ability to apply for a waiver as will small, inde pendent businesses.

Please consider proposing one or more senior projects -- each to work with a team of four students to produce a tangible software product. The students typically work approximately 1200-1600 hours over the course of an academic year (~9 months) on the selected projects. The client organization will interact with the team of students to understand the key requirements and to validate the analysis and design models.

The proposal project description need only be a few paragraphs describing the software product and project that your organization envisions. An example might be a project that was on this list for this year, but the requisite funding was not available or one for next year that does not have high probability for funding.

Attached below is an example senior project proposal. While this example may not reflect your own corporation's interest, it does show the level of information necessary for a competitive proposal. Please note that proposals are due by May 3rd, 2012. The students will review the proposed projects and select the ones that they would be working on over the next year. The results of the selection will be provided to proposing organizations by the first week in June 2012. The projects would commence with the Fall 2012 Term.
